Educational Interventions for Asthma in Children

About this resource:

Systematic Review

Source: The Cochrane Collaborative

Last Reviewed: October 2002

In this Cochrane systemic review, the Cochrane Collaborative found that asthma self-management education programs can help improve lung function and feelings of self-control in children and adolescents. The review included studies that compared self-management education with usual care in children and adolescents ages 2 to 18 years. Researchers found that self-management education also reduces school absences, days of limited activity, and emergency room visits.
